Last Concert Cafe was opened in 1949 as a tex-mex cafe with live music. Throughout the years, big acts playing Houston venues would come over to the cafe late at night and have their "last concert". Mama Lopez served up big or little dinners of whatever she felt like cooking that day. The door was always locked and no sign on the front of the building, a tradition we still honor to this day. Mama Dawn has been in charge for the last 24 years and being a real foodie, she has elaborated the menu beyond belief. One of the favorites this day is Pecan Crusted Chicken Breast with Garlic, Chipotle Mashed Potatoes & Grilled Veggies with a Corn reduction sauce. UMMMM! We make everything from scratch and stay on the side of healthy tex mex. Our music is still a big deal around here and we bring in national acts as well as local musicians, R & B, Rock, Jazz and ecclectic fusion of everything in between.
