muse in the influence of the man
renowned as Minneapolis’ first true
tastemaker.
John Scott Bradstreet, turn-of-the-century decorative
arts legend, is credited with bringing Asian and Moorish
influences to the Arts and Crafts design movement.
Known for his creative melding of the beautiful and
globally exotic, his career revolutionized design
principles both across America and abroad. As a
founding member of Minneapolis’ Fine Arts Society,
Bradstreet is credited with fueling the inception and
creation of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
Bradstreet’s design legacy remains today in some of the
finest homes, buildings and museums in Minnesota and
across North America.
