Profile
Cafe Julia @ YWCA Laniakea is named after its architect, Julia Morgan. Morgan was one of only a handful of woman architects in America during the 1920′s becoming the first woman to design a public building in Honolulu when she began work on the YWCA Laniakea Center. She is best known for designing the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. In her lengthy career, Morgan designed over 700 buildings, however the YWCA Laniakea Center always held a special place in her heart, listing it as one of her top ten favorite design projects. Her design has stood the test of time, registered as an official historic building in the State of Hawaii.
