We occupy a space that was once a bank in the 1920's. It closed during the Great Depression. It has been a bar of some sort since.
When we took possession it was known as BIlly's Bank Cafe. A gin mill with definitely some character.
Our goal was to create a bar/restaurant that would truly be part of the neighborhood. A place that all would frequent, both young & old.
The name, "Banc Cafe" is actually a reference to our heritage (Irish).
Banc is actually the Gaeilge spelling for Bank. It is pronounced "Bank" not "Bonc".
Genuine hospitality is really what we are about.
