Twilite Lounge

Musicians Danny Balis and Jess Barr opened Twilite Lounge in the heart of historic Deep Ellum on June 3, 2013, with a performance by renowned Denton songwriter, Will Johnson (Centro-Matic), thus setting the tone for what Danny describes as “a beer and a shot type of joint, but a dive bar you could take a date to.” In less than a year, Twilite has attracted a lively cast of characters, and built a reputation for booking the most well-regarded performers, hosting shows by Jason Isbell, Rhett Miller, Slobberbone, Pleasant Grove, and Hamell on Trial, to name a few. Its narrow shotgun space, richly appointed in dark paneling and the simmering glow of chandeliers, provides a comfy escape from the hustle of downtown life – a place to hide out or socialize with good friends. Pile into an out-sized booth and share a toast, or convene in the courtyard around a table of your favorite whiskeys. If you’re feeling less social, grab a selection from the bookcase and have a quiet read. Inspired by old Hollywood and the French Quarter, and boasting an old-school jukebox brimming with rock, soul, country and jazz greats, Twilite makes a cozy second home for those living in the neighborhood. During football season, Twilite Lounge is the home bar for a rowdy band of New Orleans Saints fans. Cowboys fans are welcome too, as games are shown on three big-screens located in the bar and on the patio.
