Jimenez first dreamed of creating a comfortable and lively lounge in his neighborhood. Being a world traveler and appreciating the many cultures he’s visited; Miguel dreamed of a place where all travelers, from every corner of the globe, could feel welcome. After months of acquiring permissions and permits; work finally began on the space that would become Nomad. It's hard to believe this wonderful little oasis, tucked in the heart of the Mueller-Windsor Park neighborhood, started as a dreary office space in a little shopping strip. It took a lot of sweat and persistence by Miguel and his partners to get Nomad up and running. Their hard work paid off. Just one year after opening, Nomad claimed the Austin Chronicle Best of Austin Reader’s Poll for Best Neighborhood/Dive Bar; a distinction some bars wait years to attain. The next year Nomad won again; tying with Rio Rita for Best Bar Staff . In 2010, Nomad won a third time, tying with The Liberty for Best Neighborhood/ Dive Bar.
