Established December 13, 2002, MugShots is the best dive bar with the best bartenders Downtown. Our bartenders pride themselves on their friendly service and our drink prices make it feel like it's always Happy Hour. We have one of the best CD-Jukeboxes that you'll find and our photobooth makes it easy for you to leave your very own mugshot on our walls for everyone to see. Our beer selection is second to none, we generally have over 50 different beers to choose from. Whether you are looking for an IPA or a Nicaraguan beer, we have one for you. MugShots is a great place to escape the chaos of Sixth Street in the comfort of one of Downtown Austin's oldest stone buildings. The building is believed to have been originally constructed in 1872 by Mr. Jeremiah Sheehan, who worked as a contractor and owned a limestone quarry where the Austin Women's Club exists today. Col. B. A. Risher owned the building, which was originally constructed as a house, and it soon became the offices and boarding house for the New Orleans stagecoach, which he operated at 6th and Neches. In 1886 a widow, Fannie Davis, purchased the building and opened a brothel. From 1950 - 1964 the building was known as the Californian Hotel and was a popular place for traveling musicians to stay. Through the years a few people have seen 'The Lady in the Blue Dress' and because of that, we've been featured in a few books and on the Austin Ghost Tour.
