 Baru opened its doors as a tapas restaurant. Tapas are a tradition originating from Spain in which small portions are served on small plates, ideal for those who enjoy variety in their dining experience. Although Baru Bistro started out with very humble beginnings in a building previously an old grocery store, it didn’t take long for Baru to build a solid reputation for serving flavorful dishes with a unique twist. In 2007, Baru Bistro & Tapas won “Best Latin Restaurant” in the Gambit magazine's "Best of New Orleans" awards. Join us.
