The Black Rooster Pub was established in 1970 and has been known to many as the "Cheers" of Northwest Washington DC.
It is not unusual to see a mixture of patrons enjoying their favorite libations side by side – from lawyers to construction workers, businessmen to rugby players, and secretaries to dart shooters.
Looking around the room, you will notice many period decorations – the back bar imported from England, the authentic stained glass ceiling panels and the extensive collection of beer and whiskey mirrors from the British Isles: many of the distilleries and breweries depicted are no longer in existence. The 200 year old Welsh carvings behind the bar illustrate the four most important periods in a Welshman's life. The panel is finished with a carving of a magpie, which is good luck in Wales.
We have a long tradition in the darting community and are known throughout the city as the place to go to when interested in darts. We sponsor several dart teams who are always interested in new members.
We pride ourselves in the quality of our spirits and ales; an extensive line of Irish whiskeys, scotches, bourbons and other spirits. Our dining fare, lunch or dinner is hearty and of excellent price, quality, & value. No one leaves hungry!
